  1. Very happy with my purchase of P90X. Product came in time indicated and I also loved the extra Excel Worksheet program the seller included (THANKS!!). I would definitely buy from this seller again.
  2. Overall I am happy with the books and content of the CD. My only issue is that a few of the CDs have skips and I have not seen them all yet. The workouts are written in a book so the skip is not that big of an issue but I prefer to watch and imitate rather than read. In addition, the DVD case pockets rip easily when removing the DVDs. I have already seen results within the first 3 weeks and I happy with the overall content of the program.
  3. The youtubers are proof enough for me that this product works. Even if you’re still looking like a marshmallow after 90 days, you should have some pretty good physical efficiency. It’s good stuff.
  4. I love P90X. I’m 23 days into my first round, and have found the nutrition guide, the videos, and the community that surrounds P90X very helpful and supportive. If you eat the right foods and push yourself during the workouts, you WILL see results. My body composition has already changed significantly, and I can’t wait to see the total yield after completing the program. With that being said, the one flaw I’ve found with this program is the quality of the DVDs. I have exercised care in handling the discs, but have found that a couple of them have picked up scratches that cause the workout to jump. When this happens, I have to search through the chapters and pick my workout back up as close to the damaged area as possible. This affects my overall flow, and is frustrating. I’d encourage you to try P90X, but be wary of the DVD quality.
  5. This program is awesome! All of the items were in perfect condition, everything included, and alot more than I expected. I also joined beachbody.com along with the P90X DVD series and it is really beneficial. I recommend this to anyone that is die hard ready to get in shape.
  6. This product is a great investment. The workouts are fun and challenging while offering a variety (for those like me that get bored easy, that’s a great thing!). Best at home fitness video series.
  7. Although I have just started the P90x full 90 day program I did the exercises 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks in an attempt to get ready. Let me just say that these workouts are hard, but very possible. Tony has set it up for almost any level to do what you can, and keep doing more reps or more weight as you need to. I did the chest and back exercise first and could hardly raise my arms to dry off after my shower, LOVED IT! I used to always work out in high school but 4 years of college and I’ve definitely slipped, but P90X gives you that desire/hunger again to be healthier! I highly recommend P90X to anyone who is serious about weightloss or toning!? You can go spend money on books, miracle pills or electrical gimics but NONE OF THEM WORK LIKE GOOD OLD FASHION WORK! Buy P90X and get ready to BRING IT!
  8. Bought P90X with my fiance so that we can get into shape for our wedding. This is my first work out DVD that I have ever done and usually hate them. But…Two weeks into P90X and we are loving it. It keeps us motivated to Bring It each day. It is to early to see a huge result, but I have lost about 8lbs and am feeling fitter with every video. It is worth every cent as long as you are motivated to be consistent with the exercise and the nutrition diet.I am not the most motivated person around, but Tony Horton definitely keeps me motivated to work hard…Good Stuff for a DVD! Shipping was on time and I had no trouble with transaction. Al in all I am stoked!
  9. This video clearly works. You can tell because how hard it is. Every workout by the end you are pouring sweat and you are just almost too tired to move. The workouts are hard but thats what makes it so good too.
  10. EXCELLENT service!! Needed replacement discs for P90X and received them fast and in perfect condition. Would definately buy from Norlds World again!!!
  11. Other reviewers have said it all. This is a great product. Just make sure you’re ready to be sore for a week and make sure you have an isolated place to do the yoga x dvd — you’ll look and feel like an idiot until you get your balance and flexibility. Their big slogans are Bring it — which is absolutely true because you only get out what you put in. This isn’t a miracle cure and it’s not for the faint heart — it’s for people who are prepared for 70-90 minutes of a kick your butt workout 6 days a week. They also say to do your best and forget the rest — also absolutely true; I didn’t worry that the girls were doing more weight and more reps then me at first… I didn’t feel emasculated at all… well, maybe a little. But TRY to forget the rest! And don’t forget to eat a lot of German Potato Soup! (That’ll make sense after Day 1 of your P90x-ing).
  12. The workouts are great. It definitely takes a commitment but even only 5 weeks into it, I can see great improvements in strength and appearance! The downside is that the quality of the DVDs are not good. Since I didn’t buy direct from the Beachbody site, I don’t know if this is not an “official” copy-although the packaging was as described and sealed.
  13. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT buy from this person!!! I did have a problem with a DVD and the seller did send me a new one but then I have a problem with to move DVD’s and the seller has never replied!!! this seller sucks!!!!!!!!
  14. Great product. It really does what it says it will do as long as you put in the effort.
  15. To be honest, I don’t know why I’m surprised, but the product is a total total joke. It projects itself as something for “extreme” people or those who are already fit and looking for something new. Well, its not. If you’re completely out of shape then maybe it’ll help you get back into a routine. But other than that its a total waste. 50% of the video seems as though its simply trying to get you to use their recovery drink or some other product. Save yourself the money. If you want what is on this video get a chin up bar and do some chin ups and push ups and go for a jog. I’m am floored by how big of scam this is.
  16. I am a 48 year old man who has had 2 lower back surgery’s for herniated disks, 3 shoulder operations for dislocations(2 on right, 1 on left), 1 elbow surgery to repair a broken radial head and a lower abdomen double hernia surgery. I just completed the 90 days of P90X. I wanted to write this review to inspire people. It is possible to complete this workout if your body is less than perfect. Heck in the Plyometric video one of the guys has a prosthetic leg. Plyo is one of the hardest sessions in the series because you are basically doing jump exercises for just under and hour. Some weeks I could not do Plyo (back pain) so I substituted the workout for the UML or Upper Middle Lower workout. UML is one of the bonus workouts in the “Watch Me First” disk. You really do need to be in decent shape before starting P90X. I was not in very good condition at the start so I did the 2 bonus workouts or UML and Cardio Intervals for 2 weeks from the Watch Me First disk. I did not give a 5 star rating because of the poor job of editing. You will notice that when doing jumping jacks they will cut in for close ups and the people are out of sync. At first you think you are out of sync so you speed up your jumping jacks but when the camera shot pulls back out you are out of sync again. They must have been in a hurry to meet a release deadline or they would have caught this. Sometimes Tony Horton loses count like in the Ab Ripper X video when they are doing reverse bicycles. Tony likes to yap a lot so I think this is why he sometimes loses count. Another mistake happens in the Yoga X video. This was not Tony’s fault. The entire class mis queues on the first downward dog to right leg raise followed by the swing through to runners pose. Tony tells the class to swing their legs through and they all freeze with their legs in the raised position. I still laugh when I see Tony turn around expecting to see the class in runners pose but they are still in the leg raised position. But don’t get the wrong impression. The class in the video are experts. They can do things that you cannot. The crane pose is an example. This is not the karate kid crane. If you can do the yoga crane you are awesome and you get my respect. One other thing bugged me. At the end of the Legs and Back video Tony has the class call out their soups during cool down. He admonishes a girl named Dreah for calling out Lobster Bisque because he does not think it is in the diet plan and he thinks it “sounds fattening.” Yet in another of the videos Tony is the one who calls out Lobster Bisque for his soup. Even with the mistakes I still give this workout the highest recommendation. I will be waiting the advised two week rest period after completing the 90 days and starting all over. If I ever get $70,000 dollars I would like to climb Mount Everest.
  17. Great way to get in shape and have fun. I enjoy the workouts by myself or invite some friends to come along and they’ve become hooked too. I use this as a supplemental workout at home in addition to running/cycling daily so it’s been an incredible boost to my overall fitness regime. Shipping/packaging was fast and hassle-free. I highly recommend this product to those who want to increase their fitness level and are not intimidated by some hard work and sweat! I especially love the YogaX program. Most of the exercises can be slightly modified if you travel and don’t have access to the minimal accessories required to still get a great workout and stay on track.
  18. The product arrived in great condition. All the items were included and in great shape.
  19. I am in the 4 th week and have noticed that my strength & endurance has improved. I am enjoying the challange. Worth every cent!!
  20. I like this workout alot. It was a little hard at the start because im so out of shape. But it is getting better just do it i say.
  21. Anyone, who dedicate almost 2 (TWO HOURS!!) hrs a day to workout for 90 straight days, will be ripped, P90X or not. That is logical. This program is nothing special, it is good but not magical. I didn’t need to lose weight, I bought this because I wanted to be more toned. As comparison, I had better result doing 30 Day Shred (25 min a day) for the whole month, than doing lengthy P90X Lean for the whole month. Unbelievable.
  22. I have been a gym rat for years, just grinding out the same ole weight training and cardio routines and P90X has turned out to be a refreshing but challenging new exercise routine. I have tried a number of different programs over the past 20 plus years and I’ve got to say this has been the most enjoyable, yet challenging one yet. I am 30 days into this program and already feel and see a significant, positive difference in my body. I’m very excited about continuing on through the next two phases of the program. I highly recommend this program for anyone who feels they have hit a plateau in their training and are looking to shake things up bit!!
  23. The product is great. If you want a tough workout this is the product for you. It’s not for the beginner. If you follow the steps you will get into shape. It may take a little longer than the 90 days, some people need a little more time but you will see a significant difference. Overall I would recommend P90X; I give it 8 out of 10.P90X Extreme Home Fitness with Tony Horton – Set of 13 DVDs, Calendar, Fitness Guide, Nutrition Guide, & Workout Log
  24. The problem with this workout is you have to have the house to accommodate the pull up bar..high ceilings needed. Also Tony Horton is annoying and the music is awful. The DVD holder was ripped as well.
  25. The delivery took a bit longer than I expected, but it came from Asia. But, it’s a new and complete set; all discs that I’ve used work great.
  26. The P90X program and these discs represent a great piece of work by tony horton and company.. he is a fantastic person, very motivating, and just two weeks into it, he already has me in better shape than i have been in quite a while. the only thing i take a star off for is that there are occasional sound problems with the music being a bit too loud, and sometimes the dvd will briefly pause.. however, nothing that is a show stopper and i look forward to the workout every morning. it is not suitable for people who have significant joint or cardiovascular problems, but otherwise, you can really make a huge difference working with tony no matter what level you are starting from. go for it!
  27. When I received the item, the gromets that hold the DVD book together were loose and so the all of the sleeves were seperated. It was not packed very well and appeared to be used.
  28. I am a 36-year old male, I have to admit that I originally got my hands on this via the underground market. But I loved it so much, and have had such stellar results, I went back to buy it at full retail price. This guy deserves every penny he makes- he is motivating, approachable, fun, cool, and down to earth (not a ‘muscle’ or ‘workout’ guy), yet he is ripped. His approach puts the onus on you to just do it. Great job, Tony Horton- you are a role model and an inspiration.
  29. I love this workout, I am on my third week, and already feel a difference! I didn’t like that the people I purchased it from didn’t provide me with a tracking number, so I didn’t know when to really expect it. They gave a 3 week window of when it would show up. Even a confirmation email saying it was shipped would have been nice.
  30. I Love it!! Keeps you moving, time actually goes by quickly. Tony does a really good job getting me through the tough spots. I like his concept of how he changes things up and it keeps your attention. This is really a tough workout and I do not reccomend to someone who has just decided to start excerising. They may not stick with the program if they can’t do most of the excerises. I think this program is for someone who has been excerising and wants to ramp up their excerise program.
  31. It’s simple: DON’T buy this product if: 1) You aren’t in the mood to work hard 2) If you aren’t in a regular habit of exercising, and you think this will “jump start” you – - it is meant for people already in shape, NOT beginners! 3) If you want tons and tons of cardio, aerobics, etc. The emphasis in this program is resistance training, to an extent 4) If you don’t have at least 70-95 minutes a day to dedicate to exercise 5) If you can’t commit to this regimen for 90 days DO buy this product if: 1) You want to look better than you’ve ever looked in your life 2) If you currently have the fitness level, time, energy and drive to complete the workout 3) If you are in the mood for a major physical regimen, but don’t want to spend $75 per hour with a personal trainer at the gym 4) If you don’t want to buy five million pieces of exercise equipment – all you need are a yoga mat and resistance bands. And a chair, any chair in your house. A pull-up bar, yoga block, push-up bars, etc. are probably great but NOT necessary and I didn’t use any of these – - and yet I successfully completed the program and look great now! All I’ll say is that I made the time for this program, gathered the energies to do it, had the physical fitness to get through it – - and now I look better than I’ve ever looked in my life. Also – I used resistance bands for all the pull-up exercises in these workouts (bought a band with a door attachment, in a very heavy weight) and got great results. It’s wonderful if you have the space/set-up in your home for a pull-up bar, but just want to share that it’s not an absolute must. The bands can get you great results.
  32. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT FROM AMAZON I highly recommend P90X to whomever is willing to put the dedication in both for the workouts and the nutritional plan. However, be warned, Amazon and other third party sellers have been known to deliver pirated and/or scratched discs. Ordering from Beachbody will insure you get brand new, non-pirated and non-scratched discs. Plus you get a lifetime warranty to replace anytime you feel. If you are trying to save a buck or two, there are a lot of bloggers out there who will tell you how to make shortcuts on the additional gear (yoga blocks, weights, recovery drinks, etc). If you must, that is where you should cut corners.
  33. LOVE the videos…lost 10 lbs in three weeks….seller shipped quickly and it was brand new! Very happy customer!
  34. You always have to wonder about fitness programs because most of them are a scheme, but this is the real deal! I do not recommend this for those who aren’t in somewhat decent shape already. That is not to say those who are completely out of shape shouldn’t try it…it will just be a rougher road. This program is very difficult, not only physically but mentally. The diet program really works but in my opinion it is more difficult than the physical aspect. If you follow the program to a T then you will see insane results. If you follow most of it (but cheat every now and again) you are still getting your moneys worth. I was not a big fan of yoga so I never did it and I ate high protein/low carb but didn’t follow the diet. Even with skipping yoga and the diet I saw amazing results. I highly recommend this program! With that being said there are some negatives. Frankly, Tony Horton (the instructor) is annoying. I watched each video once to figure out what to do and then I became my own instructor and stopped watching the videos and followed the book instead. If you aren’t knowledgable wih fitness and you also find him annoying then you can watch but mute him and listen to your IPod. Another negative is the time commitment. These are not short workouts like with Crossfit. One last negative is finances. My bank account took a huge hit with the diet. I was spending alot more at the grocery store trying to eat healthier. I also purchased protein bars and Aftershock/post workout mix. These things are not cheap. The pros far outway the cons and the results are completely worth it. Buy a full length mirror because you will want to stand in front of it shaking your head at how great you look.
  35. I started P90X 2 months ago and this program is amazing. I haven’t even completed the program and I’m ALREADY in better shape than I have been in my whole life. When I started this program I couldn’t even do a push-up without being on my knees, now, just 2 months later I am doing REAL push-ups! I have lost almost 10 lbs and I feel amazing! A few words of caution: This workout is no joke. It is HARD WORK, so once you decide to do it, and commit to the program, you WILL succeed!!
  36. I had this product for 4 months now and I haven’t been the best student. My best try is 5 weeks in a row(I have a 15 year old recurring shoulder injury T_T and over did my self with the weights) and the benefit you get is incredible, not only losing weight but starting to be more active on your day to day life…oh and yes, I recognize It’s my fault for getting carried away with the weights…and not listen to Tony’s advice. < Fit Test > For the readers that are concern about the intensity, yes it is intense…but it’s not a real life class, that’s why the pause is your best friend if you are not feeling ok after finishing an exercise. The first thing you do(I didnt) is a fit test that you can download here [...] But, even if you don’t clear it you get THREE different workouts on the 12 DVD set: I recommend you start with the Lean workout since it’s a good overall workout with less intensity than the other two which are: Classic(Awesome) and Doubles(the harder one and for regular sport people) AND as I said earlier, you can PAUSE the workout, get your heartrate on the right level and keep going doing your best. After 5 weeks and the 6th on going(and pacing my self to prevent harm on the shoulder) I can tell you that many friends have joined me for P90x with different fitness and sometimes you get to do it without pause or with short breaks but in the end the result is the same: they are all happy with the workout they do which in many cases is the Core Synergistics -one of my favorites-. < I Recommend > What I recommend in equipment: 1. Heartrate Monitor 2. A carpet and/or yoga mat 3. Resistance Bands, I recommend the Bands for space and cost efficiency above the weights 4. Will to improve your self What you need to do while working out to improve your fitness level: 1. Drive to do your best 2. Follow the diet on the program < Diet > And the diet is half the battle for optimum fitness levels. If you follow the diet on the book or get a nutritionist. I live in an area where I can`t get the healthy meals proposed on the diet so I visit her to know what else worked for me. The program is divided in three steps and it is recommend that you adjust your meal to get better results from it. My stats: - Height 6′ - Weight 221 pounds - Sports: weekend golfing My results(so far): - Weight: 196 pounds - Sports: P90x, Karate and weekend golfing Since I haven’t finish the program and start it already twice(currently on my second try) I have to say that if your main focus is to lose weight start with the Lean routine and DO the diet!! On my first attempt I didn’t do the diet for the 4 weeks and I only lost 6 pounds, now on my second attempt I’m following the diet and I’m down 15 pounds -oh yeah!!!- < Online support > I was a bit skeptic on this subject…I’ve visit the website while I was on P90x break and start reading the forums. They are loaded with information and many questions I had during my first month were answered reading the forums which lead me to register on [...]. I was anxious to get in touch with my online coach and after a day he got in contact with me and the communication hasn’t stopped, from very good tips for the workouts to encouragement to casual messages. < Tony Horton > You can’t get any better trainer cause there is non, he will occasionally trow a joke after a hard exercise, tell you three or more ways to do a workout and always, always gets you to do your best!!! In conclusion, if you don’t want to push yourself from the start get the P90 DVDs but don’t be afraid to go with the P90x because in the end you can do it at your own pace -”they aren’t going anywere”- and you will get amazing results. ** BRING IT ** ** BRING IT ** ** BRING IT **
  37. I love it! If you really want to get into shape…this is for you! It is NOT a fru-froo workout. I lost 8 lbs the first week. It does require you to stick to it!
  38. This is the most intense workout I have ever done! I am only on Day 19 and I have already dropped 7 pounds ( I only needed to drop 10-15!)so this is very impressive. The first week is a killer but week two and three will really get better (but NOT easier!!). This is worth the money and buy directly from the company…anything less than that and you will miss valuable food guides and book. So far so good….can’t wait to see the end results! Day 90 here I come!!!
  39. I’m sold on this series. I’m a multi-sport junkie coming off of an over use injury and had to do something to get back on track. This is it. I’m in my third week and seeing clear results while still working my way back into running. The associated diet is a struggle, but believe with some focus I could manage that too. Some of the workouts are over an hour. If you are a morning workout person you may need to adjust your schedule to fit them in. It is worth it.
  40. the fifteen minute ab workout is ridiculous. but if you do it, it’s over in fifteen minutes.
  41. I travel just about every week for business and had a hard time coming up with a workout program that I could do on the road and at home and you can’t count on a hotel gym to have what you need. I hate checking in luggage, but hate my butt making my trousers look small even more. If you wanted, you could probably do this workout on the road and still pack just carry on, but I’ve started packing a small bag so that I can bring everything I want. I figure that if I’m working this hard 6 days a week, an extra 20 minutes to get my gym bag at baggage claim is no big deal. To take my P90X workout on the road, here’s what I pack. - The workout DVDs – I’ve actually got mine on my laptop and on my iPod by using Handbrake to copy the discs I bought through Beachbody. This is a quality product, so buy it rather than being a pirating weasel. Plus, if you invest your money, you’ll feel more motivated to finish which is the important part. They’ll refund your money if you don’t like the program anyway so there is no risk. - Gym shoes and socks – you don’t need heavy duty shoes if you follow Tony’s advice of being light on your feet. I pack a light weight pair of Merrill hiking shoes. - Nylon gym shorts – with a supportive liner (for guys) since you’ll be doing jumping jacks and other jumping in most every workout. - A tee shirt for every day – since I’m soaked with sweat after every workout. - Resistance bands – the BeachBody bands are cool since you can move the handles between the different bands making them easier to pack. I take three and bought a door clip so that I can do pull down exercises in my hotel room (it’s a nylon band with a loop on one end and a sewn in block on the other). - P90X Recovery Drink in the single serving packets – Again, as hard as I’m working at this, $45/month is not too much to spend. It tastes like a creamcycle. If you don’t carry a water bottle, buy Aquafina with the big mouth top so it’s easier to pour your recovery drink into it. Optional stuff to pack - Yoga mat – since I do these workouts in my hotel room I want something between me and the floor weather it’s yoga day or not. If you don’t want to pack it, extra towels from the hotel will do the job. - Yoga block – if yoga is on my schedule during travel. I haven’t bought a heart-rate monitor since I don’t need one to tell me I’m hitting it as hard as I can. Also, for all of the back workouts, it just so happens that I have been at home. I bought a pull up bar for my basement and have had that at my disposal each time. I have a heavy weight, black band for travel when the back workouts happen on the road. I’m at the end of week 5 of P90X, so the hardest part is behind me, (i.e., the first week of muscle soreness and working the routine into my schedule). I haven’t missed a workout, even when on the road. One day, I had an early flight and didn’t get a chance to workout until 10:30pm. The only challenge here is the Plyometrics and Kenpo workouts have a lot of jumping and may not be appreciated by occupants of nearby hotel rooms. Plan accordingly. I’ve got the workouts on my iPod so I can go to the hotel gym for those workouts if I want. After 5 weeks P90X, I’m in better shape than most anyone in there so I don’t care if I look a bit unconventional to the people watching the Today show while they walk on the treadmill. Before this program I would workout when I was at home and was motivated to squeeze it in. I would run for a couple of miles and do 40 minutes of weights. However, I was lucky to get 3 days in per week and I was eating whatever was around with no real portion control. During the first week of P90X, I was so sore that a couple of days after the shoulders / biceps / triceps workout I could barely touch my face because my triceps were so tight and sore. In subsequent weeks, however, that passed. With 5 weeks behind me, I’ve gone from 198lbs (I’m 5′11″ and really do have big bones, esp. femurs and pelvis) to 187lbs. I haven’t remeasured my body fat, but I’m sure I’ve traded some fat weight for muscle mass so my 11lb net loss is probably more like 15lbs+ of fat loss. I started with a 38″ waist and my 35″ pants are fitting me loosely now. During my fit test, I could do 4 pull ups. Now I can do 11 during my first set and a total of 70 during the back and legs work out. I can just about keep up during all of the workouts, which is no small deal. The [...] people have put everything you need to manage your program into a very thorough spreadsheet (which you can download from their website). It tracks your weight loss progress, your body measurements, every set in every weight workout and your daily nutrition. Again, this is great for me because there is no notebook to pack when I travel. While challenging, the workouts are actually quite fun after the first week of pain and learning the routines. Tony is as engaging as he can be in a recorded program. I find myself laughing at his jokes, even though I’ve heard them all repeatedly. He’s got himself and 3 others doing each workout so you can follow the person doing the workout in a way the most closely matches your ability and equipment at your disposal (e.g., dumbbells or bands). The workouts are about 60 minutes from warmup to cooldown, except yoga which is 90 minutes. The weight workout discs have a 15 minute bonus abb workout, which I haven’t done yet. In conclusion, if you are like me and will follow through on something once you’ve put your mind to it, you’ll be very pleased with this workout. $130 bucks, plus the cost of the Recovery Drink and equipment is a bargain to improve your health and feel better about how you look. The heaviest dumbbell I have used so far has been 45lbs for the lawnmower exercise (basically a dumbbell row exercise). I’ll probably go heavier, but my point is that you can buy the dial-a-weight dumbbells at Costco and have every weight you need for this workout. I hope this review is useful for my fellow travelers who are “loose in the cage” and want to improve. I’ll turn on the “e-mail me when someone comments on my review” option if anyone wants to ask me anything. Now I’m off to do KenpoX.
  42. Product is all that it claims to be. If you are generally in shape, the workouts are good and not too difficult. You have to put it in the time and increase according to direction. Good overall. You may need to purchase some of the extras, if you don’t have them already.
  43. I have been lifting weights using a home gym for many years but the workout I was doing was getting highly redundant. The P90X workout set is very ambitious but provides a high level of variety and makes you use many more muscle combination’s as compared to only a weight lifting regimen…..if you want to get really fit, more flexible and also more athletically developed, I would recommend purchasing this product…..Tony Horton will work you at a high level…..and you will reap the results…..Larry D, Portland, OR
  44. First off, let me say that the workouts are hard. As soccer player who will be playing in college next year, I had to pause halfway through the 1st workout (chest and back) to keep from throwing up. If you want to lose 10-15 pounds, than by all means you should buy this program. However, the fact is that this program will do little to help you gain muscle mass, strength, or explosive/athletic power. This is through no fault of the program, which features killer workouts, but instead a fault of its setup: it is a home workout which utilizes a minimal amount of equipment. Bottom line, going to a gym and using their extensive selection of free weights will result in better results, and will also probably cost less, considering the price of P90X even without any workout equipment. Why is this? Substantial gains in strength and muscle size require using a weight with which you can only perform a maximum of 12 reps. A program which leans heavily pushups and bodyweight squats cannot increase the size of the chest or the power of the legs. P90X will increase muscular endurance, but this is of little practicality to most of us. As an athlete, I train for strength and power in the gym and endurance on the track and the pitch. Additionally, the layout of the program often only works out a body part once a week (for example chest/back/shoulders are trained just once a week in the first stage). No matter how hard the workout, you can’t improve with one day a week of training. Don’t believe me? Just look at the before and after photos provided by Beachbody. These people didn’t gain any muscle mass; they just slimmed down and took their photos under more flattering lighting. Before you purchase P90X, I suggest you at least take a look at the book “Men’s Health Power Training” ($15 on Amazon).
  45. This is a great training program. Not for the weak, you need to be in good physical shape before starting. With this you work all your muscle groups and also includes some very interesting cardio trainings. You will not get bored. You end up loving the little pain the day after.
  46. I did the entire 90 days of p90x starting November of 2008. Since then I’ve become more dormant due to my job, but I’m getting back on track with insanity, and I’m considering mixing in some pieces from P90x/P90x+ and the 10 minute trainer. I can remember when I was doing it very well, however. I have to say that I really loved this program when I did it. The nutrition part was fine (The suggestions were generally what I ate anyway), but my schedule was incredibly hectic. I was getting up at 5 am to go to class, and I was so tired in the day it would throw me off leaving me often with very little sleep on the weekdays. I stuck to it though. I wasn’t doing it for “The look” but to prepare me at the time to start practicing martial arts regularly again (Too bad my job made that a pipe dream lol). About three weeks in, however, my friends started to comment on how lean I had become. I was hoping to cut a little weight so I could make my weight cut for fighting easier (I sit around 170 with a cut to 155 at 5′11″). I didn’t lose very much, but my build started to change dramatically to that of my past when I was practicing Boxing/Kickboxing/MMA six days a week. Around seven weeks in I once took a look in the mirror. I just began feeling my muscles. I still didn’t see what my friends saw, but I noticed my flexed muscles were incredibly hard and compact. I suddenly had this feeling of “YOU’RE BACK? Hello!” Lol At the end of it I met my goals, but that’s when the job hit even harder, and the muscle went away sadly. But it took a few months for them to calm. I was still happy. The program kept me engaged while I did it. I would always sacrifice time for it, and while at first I had a mildly ill attitude towards it at times, it began to be very fun. I really like Tony Horton’s attitude. He makes it fun, he’s about get the job done, and keeps you engaged. Later it became not uncommon for me to end the last few minutes with a big smile. I did go in sort of dumb and not realize that you had to be fairly fit to do it, but I was already in the top 1% of the Air Force for my age (21 then), so I was fine. One thing I will applaud it even more for is that while doing it I did almost no long distance runs, and my 1.5 mile running time (While slower than my basic training time of 8:33) had little to no change at the end of the program. I was afraid not doing that it would mess me up, but that was not so. I recommend this for anyone of a moderate level of fitness looking to enhance where they are. It will enhance you all around, but of course if you want to specialize in something such as building great amounts of strength, speed, endurance, and so on, then there are other options. Still, it wouldn’t hurt if you had those goals in mind while using pieces of p90x to enhance. A lot of the separate movements are really good. Good luck with your goals!
  47. I am well-known as a gym rat! However, in the winter, I do enjoy a CHALLENGING workout at home. These 13 workouts (plus two bonus workouts) keep things fresh and new even to me, one who gets bored easily! The program has three levels, so I can work within this set for 9 months, and plan to! I am a fan of Tony Horton, and this p90x does not disappoint!
  48. The tip of the day, kids, is that P90X makes me happy. I finished the Lean version a couple of days ago, on New Year’s Eve. I am a 30 year old female who has worked out and eaten healthily my whole life. A few months ago, one of my hubby’s co-workers gave him the P90X DVDs. I was thrilled because I had been intrigued by the infomercial, but wasn’t sure if the product was good enough to spend a lot of money on. At first, I just wanted to watch the DVDs to get some new moves to use at the gym, but after watching them, I was so impressed that I decided to do the entire program. We didn’t receive the diet plan, so my comments are based solely upon the workouts. I purchased a portable DVD player and did the weight and yoga DVDs in my gym’s aerobics room, which worked out quite well. I have a cheap gym membership, and it worked out to be more inexpensive to do what I did rather than going out and buying a bunch of weights and a pull-up bar. I also wanted to keep the cardio options that I had at the gym (more on that later). Some readers may wonder about weight loss. I did not lose anything on the program; however, I have had a lot of health issues crop up this past year that are preventing me from losing weight. My doc is working with me on that. I know for a fact that it is not the program’s fault that I didn’t lose weight (hypothyroid, hormone, adrenal, and gluten issues, anyone?), so definitely try the program if you are otherwise healthy and want to try to lose weight. I’m sure you’d see results! I am so impressed with the gains that I’ve seen from doing the Lean version that I’m starting the Classic version today. I’m a little scared to do Plyos once a week, but I know I’ll keep getting great results. My biggest piece of advice is to write everything down like Tony says (how many reps, weight used, etc.). I ignored that pointer when I started, and I began regretting it around week 6 or 7. I was feeling stronger and would’ve loved to see the proof on paper. In a nutshell, here’s the breakdown from my point of view: PROS * I have gotten so much stronger since doing this program. I can now do plyo push-ups! * I am also more flexible. My hubby can’t believe the yoga poses I can do now. * Tony and the gang are fun and inspirational. Tony was 45 when he did these DVDs and he was in great shape. I saw him on QVC recently. Now 50, Tony is still tearing it up! I hope I’m in such good shape when I get to be that age. I love that the DVDs are serious workouts, yet you are still having fun and laughing at the same time. Some of the co-hosts are older, and one guy has only one leg, so knowing that those people can get through the workouts motivates me to do my best even more. * I have workout ADD. This program offers variety and keeps me interested. * I never have to think about what I’m going to work out on which day. It’s all laid out for me. * The DVDs are easily navigable; it’s simple to skip a move if you want/need to. I also like that the music can be turned off. And when I want to quit, it helps to see the timer on the bottom of the screen so I know I only have a certain amount of time before my reps are done. It’s easier to keep going when you know you only have, say, 10 seconds left. * I enjoy yoga now. I used to do yoga maybe 3 times a year, a half hour at a time. I didn’t “get” yoga. I loved cardio-running, hiking, cycling, and kickboxing, along with 2-3 days/week of weight lifting, were my routine. When I first watched the yoga DVD, I was shocked that it was an hour and a half. But I gave it a chance because Tony said he’s in the shape he’s in because of yoga, not because of pull-ups. The first time I did it, it didn’t seem like it was that long. Over time, I started enjoying it quite a bit. Now my body (and mind) craves yoga. * The moves aren’t easily mastered. Even though I’m in shape, I still can’t do every single move for as long as Tony and the co-hosts can. I still have things to strive for even though I’ve been through the program one round. * There are options presented-you can use weights or bands, or you can modify if needed. CONS * I’ve done a lot of workout DVDs in my day, and the norm is for the hosts to refer to your directional side, not theirs. That way you can mirror their movements, which makes it easier to stay coordinated. (For example, if they say to march on your left foot, it is your left side, not their left.) Tony doesn’t do this, and it gets on my nerves a little bit. Frequently, when he says to do something on the left, I start doing it on the left and then get confused when I look at the screen because I should be doing it on my right. (Yes, I’m blonde, can you tell?) * Sometimes unilateral reps aren’t even on both sides. For example, the knee to forehead move in Yoga is done one extra time on one side. Some poses are held longer on one side, too. Make sure you keep track in your head how many reps you do on each side so you stay even. * The Yoga DVD has a yoga belly section. I don’t understand why, when it’s placed in-between days that you do Ab Ripper X. Tony says himself in the Ab Ripper X DVD that you shouldn’t work out your abs every day. I just skip through that part on the Yoga DVD, but it’s annoying to have to ruin my yoga flow to fast forward. * Like other posters have said, the Cardio and Kenpo DVDs are too easy. I substituted with running, cycling, hiking, Plyometrics, or someone else’s cardio DVD for those days. * I don’t like the up, down, up, down of the Core Synergistics DVD. I’d rather do all the floor work, then stand up. I felt like I spent more time getting up and down than anything else. * Tony does get a bit too chatty in spots. I’m like, “X me, X me!” and he’s still talking. Sometimes I like the short break, but sometimes not so much. Overall, it’s a great program, and I highly recommend it!
  49. This is the perfect program for anyone who is trying to get in better shape. You can do everything within the privacy of your own room. It includes both aerobic and anaerobic pieces and a nutrition component as well. The DVDs include methods for modifying the workouts to accommodate beginners, and the “muscle confusion” strategy is a winner. I just returned from a tour in Iraq, and many of my soldiers were using this program to get in phenomenal shape. This product is simply fantastic!
  50. My son called to buy his and they tried to sell him products he said would have easily added up to over $500, plus, they charged him $11 tax and $25 for shipping!!!! What a rip off! So, buy it from Amazon, save your taxes and shipping. Much better deal for the EXACT same product. He’s young and has yet to learn some of life’s valuable lessons!
  51. Ok i just started the workout and i love it, its very hard at first but i just keep pushin my self. The reason for only 2 stars is because the dvd’s suck. I got the cardiox out and tried to use it for the first time and it was skipping bad. For as much as you pay for the program they should atleast make sure the material last the whole 90 days. so think about your pick.
  52. I have been using this product for 4 weeks now and have had good results. However, starting the 5th week I started to use dvds that I had not in the first 4 weeks and they will not play in the DVD player. Also I noticed by using the paper dvd holder continuously the discs get scratched easily.
  53. This is not one of those infomercial “put-forth-no-effort-and-get-amazing-results” fitness gimmicks. This is no-nonsense, hard-core training that gets results if you force yourself to stick with it. The value of the product is in how it arranges the right variability (muscle-confusion) and timing adjustments on basic, meat-and-potatoes exercises. I highly recommend it.
  54. How sad. Multiple days into the routine and enjoying the product. DVD #11 is defective. The manufacturer won’t do anything about it so I called Amazon. They can only exchange the entire set. So now I have to figure out if I should stop the entire routine, wait for an exchange, and then start over … or what. Live with one missing dvd?? Ugh. Beware of faulty dvds.
  55. Yes, this workout is HARD, you have to be ready for the commitment and want to change your life. If that is what you are ready for then P90X is for you. There is a lot of difficult exercises, but as with anything you get better over time. This was life changing for me!
  56. You will find that you have many more muscles in your body than you knew. Why? Because they will be sore as hell. Great routines, great results. Stop wasting your time and get with this!!!
  57. Like others except I was only on day 2 and the cardio DVD is defective. Not only will it not play in any of my DVD players they look scratched. Like others Amazon will only refund and Beachbody won’t send just one DVD because they say it wasn’t purchased from them. So now I have to wait up to 4 weeks for a refund and wait and repurchase. Beachbody said had I purchased it from them they would have sent a replacement DVD no charge. Here I am looking at it say sold by Beachbody and fulfilled by Amazon. I’ll be reordering from the P90X website that way I’ve got support for the product and it’s pretty much the same cost.
  58. In my first recovery week. P90X works as long as you stay committed and keep pressing play. I have so much more energy now that I’m eating better, I’m even adding an extra hour of light cardio each day.
  59. P90X is a 6/7 day “fitness” program combing strength training, cardio, and nutrition. It is intended to be used by people who are already moderately fit (or at the least, not completely sedentary and unfit) and want an “extreme” training program. I would definitely not recommend P90X for people who are medically obese or who have never done any real exercise before. It is of course better than nothing, but very overweight people will struggle with many of the exercises. The Beachbody web site has a fitness test that it recommends people take before starting the program. This will tell you whether you have the basic physical and cardiovascular strength to get the most out of the program. For those who might not be ready for P90X yet, I recommend starting with Power 90 In-Home Boot Camp. It is a good primer since many of the exercises from that program make their way over to P90X. The majority of the one-star reviews on this program are from people who made the mistake of purchasing bootleg copies of the DVDs, and are unsatisfied with the videos or the seller. I have seen the bootleg videos and want to say that, even though this program is expensive, it is well worth it to have the full high quality videos from Beachbody. You are going to be watching these for over an hour a day. Trust me when I say that it makes a huge difference to have good professional videos that allow you to change the audio settings, give you audio cues for the exercises, and allow you to navigate easily through the workouts. If you buy from a third party, make sure it is a trusted seller with a lot of feedback. Trying to do this program with poor videos and no documentation will leave you very confused and frustrated. EQUIPMENT You will need to invest some money in additional equipment to use this program. The three main things you need are a yoga mat, a pull up bar, and either a set of dumbbells or resistance bands. Without these you can’t participate in 80% of the exercises. Pull Up Bar – General consensus is that the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar – Extreme Edition is one of the better pull up bars. You need to be able to do wide-arm pull ups, and the Iron Gym is good for that. People seem to like it slightly better than the P90X Chin-Up Bar. I personally use the GoFit Chin-Up Bar. It mounts to my doorway and although it’s not specifically designed for wide-arms pull ups, you can do them easily enough. My house is not built for most door-mounted pull up bars so the Iron Gym wouldn’t work for me. The GoFit is also fairly unobtrusive so I just leave it up all the time. Weights/resistance – Each workout shows you how to do the moves using resistance bands. I’ve used them before for Beachbody’s Power 90 program. Although you do get a good workout, I did not like the bands because all of the bands I have ever owned (by several different companies, including Beachbody’s P90X Resistance Bands Workout Kit–3 bands: Light, Medium, Heavy), have broken. It is not fun to have a band snap you in the face while using it. I do like how you can use the bands for pull ups though (you wrap the band over the pull up bar, sit down, and pull toward you). This is nice if you can’t do a full pull up before starting the program. If you can, I recommend dumbbells, although this can get very expensive. Dumbbells cost about $1 per pound, and you will need several different types for the different exercises, especially as you get stronger. When I first started I was fine with a set of 10s, 15s, and 25s, but really could have gotten more out of the program with a greater range. The second time I did P90X I bought the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells This made a huge difference. It is so convenient to be able to easily change the weights without having to bend down or line up a ton of weights on my floor and then put them all away once done. It also makes a big difference because I can make very small changes (15 pounds may be too light, and 20 pounds too heavy, so I can set the weights to 17.5 if I want). The bulky size of the SelectTechs do make them awkward with some of the P90X exercises. There are maybe 5-6 moves that are difficult to do because of the size of these dumbbells, and I actually switch to regular dumbbells for those. You can do every move in the P90X program with them, just not all the moves comfortably. Their convenience makes up for it though. Unless you are very strong to begin with, I do not recommend the Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Single Dumbbell for P90X beginners. It is just too bulky, and really is not needed unless you are super strong to begin with. There are not too many exercises where you will need to lift more than 55 pounds per arm, even if you do develop a lot of strength. And if you do, you can always just increase the reps. If you already own a complete set of dumbbells and have a weight rack to easily get to them, then that is the preferred option for this program. Yoga Mat – Apparently there’s a lot of opinions on yoga mats in the yoga community. Beachbody recommends the fairly expensive Manduka BlackMatPRO 71-Inch Yoga and Pilates Mat. If you’ve never done yoga before and you’re not sure how much you will like it or whether you’ll stick with P90X, I advise getting any yoga mat. I have the YogaAccessories 1/4″ Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat which works fine. You’ll be using this 4 times a week so make sure you like it. Beachbody actually recommends the Manduka mat for plyometrics, and I plan to purchase it for that reason and see how it is. Given how much you are jumping during plyo, it makes sense to have some more shock absorption under your feet when you land. My mat does tend to bunch up some when doing Ab Ripper, which can be annoying and why I now want the more stable Manduka mat. OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT: Yoga block – Whether you’re very flexible, or not flexible at all, I recommend a yoga block like the Hugger Mugger Cork Yoga Block, which helped me out immensely the first time I did yoga, and helps a lot now that I’m more practiced since I can get a better stretch. In a pinch you could probably use a very thick book wrapped in a towel to accomplish the same thing. Push up bars – These allow you to get better range of motion and get a better work out. They are also easier on your wrist. Push ups tweak some people’s wrists when they do a lot of them, which is why these are good. If you have dumbbells you can use those almost as well (but not as conveniently or comfortable). I use the TKO Extreme Training Push -up Bars They are plastic but very sturdy and work amazingly well. P90X does make their own brand called “Power Stands,” which are pretty much the same except they have a bit of an angle to them on one side, which may be more comfortable on your wrist for a few of the moves like decline push ups. Sports bottle – Of course any water bottle will work, but I really like the CamelBak BPA-Free Better Bottle with Bite Valve. It’s better than a regular bottle because the built-in straw means you don’t have to turn it upside down to drink from it. This is a minor thing but it makes my workouts more enjoyable. Heart monitor – I don’t use one too often, but I can see how it would be very useful for making sure you are working hard enough during plyometrics and kenpo. If I look at my heart rate monitor during kenpo and my rate isn’t high enough, I will pick up the pace. I don’t really recommend anyone purchase one just for this program until they get into it and decide they want one, as it really isn’t that necessary. Apparel/Shoes – I wear VIBRAM FIVEFINGERS SPRINT FOOTWEAR – MENS for everything but plyo and yoga. Yes, they are incredibly odd-looking, but they are great because they are very lightweight, which helps a lot during Ab Ripper and is less weight on me during pull ups and kicks. You can also do the majority of P90X barefoot. I don’t recommend these (or going barefoot) for plyo unless you have very strong feet. For Kenpo, Yoga, and Legs and Back, I recommend shorts with a very short inseam. You are doing so many lunges that longer basketball-type shorts get in the way. Computer – I recommend a computer simply because logging your P90X results and food intake will go a long way to keeping you motivated and sticking with the program. It is imperative that you use worksheets to log what you do during strength training, so you can improve on it the next week. There are so many exercises that you won’t be able to remember what weights you used and how many reps you did from previous weeks. The worksheets that come with the program are kind of bland, and you can find much better ones on the Internet. The most popular logging programs for Excel are XtremeFit and P90Xcel. I use the latter and it is awesome. I can track my progress so much easier with it, and it has excellent printable worksheets that are easier to use than anything else I’ve found. The Beachbody web site is also an invaluable tool and has an unbelievable amount of support on it for people doing the program. There are thousands of people doing P90X at any given time and their coaching program means there are always people willing to answer any questions you have about the program. NUTRITION Nutrition is key to this program. It is possible to achieve the results you want by not following a good diet, but it will be much more difficult. You can work on your abdominal muscles for three month straight and really improve, but if you don’t reduce yo9ur body fat down to about 10-14% (for men), you will never be able to see them because they are covered up by a layer of fat. Good nutrition also keeps you from bonking during the workouts, and during this program, you WILL need to have proper nutrition if you’re going to get through an hour of weightlifting and have the energy to then complete 15 minutes of ab ripper. P90X’s nutrition plan unfortunately has some serious flaws. During the first 30 days (phase 1), you have to consume a protein/carbs/fat ratio of 50/30/20. For most people, this will be incredibly difficult to do. If you’ve never tracked your diet before, it is highly likely you aren’t coming anywhere close to those ratios and they are probably reversed. You have to eat massive amounts of protein during the day to get these ratios. It is not hard to do once you understand your diet, but you will need to spend just as much work on your diet as you do the workouts. The only way I can do this is to count calories and keep a food log. I use a site called Fitday to log my foods, which shows me the ratios I need. During phase 1, I consume an average of 8 egg whites a day and 6 servings of protein powder a day. Yes, that is a lot. But that is one of the only ways to reach those ratios. Many people may be turned off by counting calories, which is why Beachbody came up with a Portion Plan. It uses color coded blocks to tell you how many portions of certain foods you can have, and by following this plan you are supposed to end up with the correct ratios. The only problem is it doesn’t work. It is absolutely impossible to reach their ratios on the portion plan. If you are interest in the math, here is my example: The program calls for me to get 2400 calories during phase 1 (Level II). At 50% protein, that’s 1200 calories from protein, 720 from carbs, and 480 from fat. The Portion Plan gives you 100 calories per serving and requires 7 servings of proteins a day. Let’s look at the food that gives you the most protein on their plan: egg whites. 6 large egg whites = 21.5 grams of protein x 4 calories per gram = 86 calories of protein per serving. Let’s take it a step further and say I get all 7 portions of my protein that day from egg whites. That equals 602 calories, leaving me to try to find an additional 598 calories of protein for the day from my portions of carbs and fat. Even if you choose your servings of carbs and fat from foods on their plan that are also high in protein (like baked beans for carbs and avocado for fat), there is just no way to end up with their ratios. You need closer to 12 servings of protein a day. I don’t know how they let this portion plan end up in the final program but it contradicts their requirements. My suggestions is that people who are serious about results track their food for a month until they know how to eat, and everyone else just eat tons of protein a day for the first 30 days. Aside from that, their ratios in the program do make a lot of sense. Here are the three phases: Phase I (day 1 – 30) – Fat Shredder Phase – 50/30/20 (protein/carbs/fat) The first month is designed to add muscle, so it calls for lots of protein. Although they call it the “fat shredder” phase, unless you are very overweight, you will more than likely lose a higher percentage of fat after the first month, once you have put on a lot of muscle during this phase. They really should have renamed this phase. Since muscle weighs more than fat, people should not be discouraged if they see zero weight loss the first entire month. I highly suggest measuring your results with a tape measurer or a body fat calculator like the Omron HBF-306C Fat Loss Monitor rather than the scale. It is actually best not to even step on a scale the first month. During this phase I recommend foods with very high levels of protein and low levels of fat and carbs, like egg whites, turkey breast, and some protein powders. Don’t just get any protein powder, look for one that has significantly more protein than carbs. A very good protein powder during this phase is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey, Double Rich Chocolate, 5.15-Pound Tub (24g protein, 3g carbs, 1 g fat). Some powders have too many carbs in them, which was my mistake the first time I did this program. Be careful with protein bars as well, which also contain lots of carbs. No more than 1-2 a day. Protein powder is almost always better than a bar during this phase. Look at the nutrition info for chicken breast. You can get chicken breast that has a decent amount of fat in it, or you can actually buy low fat chicken breast that has only a couple grams of fat. Bottom line is that during this phase, you should be thinking “PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN.” Phase II – (days 31-60) – Energy Booster Phase – (40/40/20) – Since you are increasing your carbs here, you should have more energy to complete the workouts. If you have been dogging it the first 30 days, now is the time to step it up. Increase the intensity of your workouts, especially the cardio ones. You should start to see a decrease in body fat percentage here if you haven’t already. If you decide to do the doubles program, I would suggest increasing the carbs a bit to handle the second workout. Phase III (days 61-90) – Endurance Maximizer – (20/60/20) – By now your body is used to the program, and all the extra carbs should mean better workouts. Now you can switch your protein powder to something like BSN Syntha-6 Ultra-Premium Sustained Release Protein Powder, Chocolate Milkshake, 2.91-Pound Jar which has a lot more carbs, or eat protein bars instead. THE WORKOUTS I wont’ spend too much time discussing them since so many others have, but below is some general info that I have observed. You are going to need at least 1 hour a day for P90X, 6 days a week. 1.5 hours is more likely when you factor in setup, breaks, and ab ripper. The workouts are very well done, and with the exception of a few faults I’ve noticed, I can’t find anything too wrong with them. The audio options are great and let you select music and voice, voice only, and alerts only. There is a time graph at the bottom showing your progress and how much you have left to go, and a time indicator for each individual exercise. The host, Tony Horton, is a great host. He is humorous and lighthearted, but not annoying. The rest of the staff in the videos do not speak much so they don’t get on my nerves either and are all pretty likable. Even though I’ve done these same workouts dozens of times and can recite them verbatim, I don’t find them particularly monotonous or get bored with them. 1. Chest/Back – 52:00 – Almost entirely push ups and pull ups. 2. Plyometrics – 60:00 – This is the most awful (in a good way) and difficult workout I’ve ever done. Keep a bucket nearby because it is highly possible you will throw up the first time you do it. Each exercise is about 30 seconds long, but you are jumping around for a solid 50 minutes. This is basically a HIIT workout. Even when I did my second round of P90X, it took me 4 weeks before I was fit enough to get through this entire video, and that included taking extra breaks during every segment. This workout will get your cardiovascular fitness in amazing shape. I strongly advise people to listed to Tony’s tip of the day when he says to “land like a cat.” If you don’t land softly, all that stress and weight will get you injured. I was laid up with a stress fracture for 4 months, most likely from doing this barefoot the first time. If this workout is too much you have the option of skipping it and doing the cardio video. 3. Shoulders/Arms – 60:00 – Designed in a series of three exercises per round, working your shoulders, biceps, then triceps. I recommend everyone make sure they have a small weighted dumbbell set like 5 or 10 pounds for their triceps. This is my favorite workout because it is so well structured, 4. Yoga X – 1:34:00 – If you’ve never done Yoga before, this will kill you the first few times, and is one of the toughest workouts in the series (behind plyo). It takes tremendous core strength and balance to get through some of the routines. I always thought yoga looked ridiculous but it has given me so much better flexibility and strength, that I can’t imagine not doing it anymore. It is scheduled perfectly in the week so that it cures a lot of the pain and soreness from the previous 4 days of working out. If you are an advanced yoga practitioner, you may find this video a little too basic for you. 5. Legs and Back – 60:00 – This is a fairly tough workout. When I was on the track and saw someone doing lunges, I always thought they looked ridiculous and wondered what it accomplished. This workout is filled with lunges and they will work the heck out of your legs. If you have never done lunges before, try doing about 30 deep lunges in a row and you will have a feel for how they can build muscle. The back portion is all pull ups. 6. Kenpo X – 60:00 – This is the weakest workout in the whole program. It is a very fun workout, but it’s just not intense enough. It’s all kicking and punching. I constantly find my heart rate dropping too much during the punches and blocking. I try to augment this workout by moving my feet around a lot during the punches and blocks to keep my heart rate up. I would advise people who don’t feel like this is enough, to substitute it with a 1 hour run, or just use the Kenpo video from P90X Plus by Beachbody. 7. Stretch X – 60:00 – You can skip this and take a rest day instead, but this video is great for increasing flexibility and reducing soreness from the previous workouts. At 1 hour long, it is no joke, but you’re also not going to be exhausted afterwords and you’ll end up burning a couple hundred calories during it. 8. Core Synergistics – This workout is started during week 4, what is teasingly named a “rest week.” This is an extremely tough workout designed to utilize all the muscles in your core. I hate this workout while doing it, but like a lot of people, find it is a really fun one. 9. Chest, Shoulders & Triceps (Phase II) – 58:00 – Not much to say, a lot of the same muscle groups as worked in weeks 1-3 but just using different routines. 10. Back & Biceps (Phase II) – 56:00 – Same as above. It’s nice to have a change in the routines during this phase. 11. Cardio X – This is just an optional workout designed for people who are on the “lean” program, meaning they are more concerned with losing fat than gaining muscle, so they do extra cardio. Most of the routines are just designed to make you sweat, and a lot of them are the same routines from Plyometrics. As I mentioned, you can also use this in place of plyo if that turns out to be too much. It’s a nice little bonus. 12. Ab Ripper – 16:00 – This is done three times a week, and follows the strength training. It focuses more on your core than other ab workout videos. If you think about skipping this or dogging it during the workout, you will pay dearly during Core Synergistics in week 4. I highly recommend those that workout in the mornings do Ab Ripper later in the evening. I found that I was too wiped out when trying to do it immediately after the strength training videos. My only complaint is that they should have included a separate disc for ab ripper, or at least included a title selection on the discs it is on so you can skip the strength training workout before it if you’re doing it later in the day. Otherwise you have to fast forward through the entire strength training workout to reach it. GENERAL TIPS/OBSERVATIONS Do not weigh yourself every day, and do not get discouraged if you fail to lose weight, or even gain weight. During Phase I your goal is to increase muscle. Since muscle is heavier than fat, it is actually not uncommon to gain weight. Looking at a scale every day may just discourage you. I check my weight and body fat percentage every two weeks, and my measurements every 4. Use your measurements and body fat, along with how well your clothes fit to measure progress, not weight. I have found that rapid weight loss usually occurs with many people between 3-4 weeks after starting the program. Make sure to take before pictures, then take pictures again at day 30 and compare them. If you don’t see a difference you are doing something wrong. There are two things that will determine success with this program: intensity and nutrition. You can “dog it” and halfheartedly go through the workouts and write down that you have completed each one, but if you do not bring intensity to the program, you will not get nearly as much out of it. You must be mentally prepared for P90X and push yourself past your mental limits. This means pumping out two more push ups when your body is telling you you are done (body always quits before mind). It is extremely easy to just go through the motions on ab ripper and complete it, which is what I did the first several weeks. When I decided to concentrate on form and really work on feeling a burn during each exercise, I got so much more out of it. I cannot stress this enough. The second area is nutrition. You must make sure you consume enough calories every day and get in enough protein. Diet is more important to body image than exercise and you must cut your fat, sugar, and salt intake if you want to see your abs. I know so many people that do this program and don’t follow the diet guidelines at all, and then don’t understand why they don’t get the results they want. On the other hand, if you are super intense in the workouts, you can get away with a poorer diet. Overall, this is one of the best and most efficient workouts for people who want to get super-fit in a relatively short amount of time and are willing to work hard to get it. You need drive and self-control to really get the most from this program, but if you put some effort in, you will be amazed at the results.
  60. You see those people on TV with incredible results, because this is a very challenging workout program. I could barely get through half of each workout when I started, but I persisted and the results and increased performance come with time. Tony Horton and his P90X system absolutely rock! I highly recommend this for anyone who has hit a plateau, has felt burned out with their current routine or has had trouble getting into the gym to shed those pounds and build that confidence. But on a practical note, I wanted to write this review primarily to let you know what equipment you’ll need to do P90X: 1. Chin-up bar (You can mount one on your door frame. Buy the one on Amazon for $39.95, not the more expensive P90X version). The bar is not absolutely necessary, you can use a workout band for the shoulder/chest stuff, but I would recommend getting one anyway, as you’ll want more options as time goes on. 2. For men: not only the heavy-strength workout band, but the medium one too. Some of the shoulder and triceps exercises are harder with the heavy-strength band, so you want options. You don’t want to bite off more than you can chew and get injured or lose motivation when you can’t get through everything with a heavy band. 3. A chair and/or stool (perhaps two). 4. Optional: dumbbells. I would get a couple sets or adjustable ones. I wanted to be realistic, so I started off with 25 pounders and a lighter set of Wieder brand bells for shoulder stuff. You can find these online or at any sporting goods store. The weights are priced around the poundage (so a 25 pound dumbbell is around $20 – $25, etc.). 5. Optional: definitely not necessary, but I enjoyed having the little push-ups stands. They are U-shaped bars that you place on the floor and allow you to get deeper into your push ups. They’re only about $10 at a sporting goods store. 6. Yoga bricks — for balance when you do the Yoga stuff. You can find these online (just type “Yoga blocks” or “Yoga bricks” into a search engine) or at most Yoga centers. I paid about $19 total for a set of two. 7. Optional: yoga mat. Good for the Yoga stuff, but if you are working out in a carpeted area, you may not need this. I have one. 8. Water bottle, tennis shoes, workout clothes, towels (you will sweat profusely!) — the usual workout stuff. That’s really about it. You’ll spend some money upfront (on top of the P90X set), but doing this program is going to be a pretty big commitment, so these expenses aren’t that big of a deal in the long term. P90X is not for the faint of heart; and yet, with hard work and perseverance, anyone can do this. A great, challenging workout that will get you the results you’re looking for with a minimum risk of injury due to great warm up and warm down sessions. I had shoulder issues going in, but I have not experienced the same trauma I had in the gym due to more stretching and warm up exercises that are an integral part of P90X. Thank you, Tony Horton.
  61. I just started this workout program 2 weeks ago and am in love with it. I think those who succeed in this program are the type who love weight and cross training as well as some diverse cardio workouts. For example, if you LOVE step class and zumba and hate being in the weight room, I don’t think this will be in line with your workout style. I had a baby a year ago and had lost the motivation to get rid of the last 20 pounds on my frame. I was pretty fit, but not overly so, before getting pregnant and after doing some research I thought I would order Power 90 to start before this program. BUT my husband was also interested, so I got P90X and thought I would just modify the moves that I needed to. I’m so happy I decided to go with P90X! Tony Horton is a great trainer, goofy at times (Karen’s Pot Stirrers anyone?), but not annoying, and he also encourages the modifications and taking breaks if you need them, also reassuring you that you will get stronger over time, etc. Overall I am so motivated to keep going with this program and plan to update after 90 days!
  62. Following along with the DVDs provides motivation and timed workouts — if structure is what you need (and I’m guessing it is if you’re in the market for such a product), then that it does indeed provide. The workouts are pretty darn intense for the novice. If you aren’t in decent shape to begin with, you won’t be able to keep up, especially at first, and many of the exercises you’ll see are fairly advanced and require coordination. The set comes with a nutrition guide that is fair- again it too provides structure if that is what you lack, but the gist of it is basically “stop eating processed junk and start eating more fruit, vegetables, and lean chicken and fish- in smaller portions”. It provides a nice booklet to keep track of meals and nutrition information as well as your progress in the workouts. There’s plenty of reference to “recovering” with a P90x shake after workouts and snacking on P90x bars between meals(sold separately of course) , but the nutrition information is for the most part accurate and if followed, would certainly be an improvement over your basic fast-food and overly processed diet. As I said, the workouts are all in all pretty solid. They will do the job if moderate weight loss or an improvement in tone is what you’re after. I wouldn’t say those that have more than 15-20 lbs. to lose would even be able to engage in most of the exercises presented, and a lower impact, more cardio-centered program would be necessary to get you into shape before you start this one. The biggest negative I see to the system is the complete lack of instruction on proper technique, especially when free weights are involved. Disc One focuses on chest and shoulders and the instructor comes out, picks up a couple of 45 lb dumbells and proceeds to rattle off a dozen “lawn mower pulls” and “back flys” without a word about selecting the appropriate weight or how to properly perform the lift to maximize efficiency and avoid injury. I would think the risk of injury is pretty high if you aren’t used to working out with weights or haven’t been otherwise educated on proper technique. Another disc focuses on “plyometrics” which isn’t necessarily something the novice ought to undertake, and injuries can occur without proper technique there too. PROS: good intensity- the real deal. will get you moving, sweating, and burning calories. CONS: little instruction of proper weight lifting techniqe or explanation of benefits of each exercise, those without a fair level of fitness to begin with will not be able to keep up or run the risk of injury by trying.
  63. I wasn’t sure when I started these work out if the would work. But after 1 month I’ve loss a inch off my waist dropped a few pounds that have been lingering for a long time. Once you make it through the first week and see your body change you forget how much you spent on the dvds. Best work out videos I have ever purchased!!
  64. I enjoy this work out program. I like to have a good looking body, but don’t really enjoy being in the gym. With P90X, I just follow along, doing the workout. I don’t have to think about it or count my reps. I just follow along. An hour goes by and I feel pumped. Right from the comfort of my home!
  65. When I went to the gym, I mostly used machines for weight training. Now I use P90x mostly as a guide on how to use dumbbells for a full body workout, and to that end it delivers very well. I also bought this because I didn’t like commuting to the gym. In college I could just walk a couple hundred feet to a massive gym. In the work world, I was going home after work, resting a bit, and then commuting to a gym. The actual time needed to get to and from the gym was ~40 minutes. Now I spend a little bit more than that time doing a far more effective and efficient workout at home any time of the day without paying for any membership or waiting in lines for other people to finish. It is a fantastic product, but a few things the P90X ads are distorting: 1. You really need an array of individual dumbbells for whatever satisfies your needs. For me, I got a pair of 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 lbs. Expect to spend ~$200-300. Bands just don’t cut it. Nor do adjustable weight dumbbells because these workouts are fast paced. You’ll be doing dozens of sets within 45 minutes where different weights will be needed as soon as every 30 seconds. 2. You aren’t going to get as fit as the people in the videos in 3 months. But using these workouts with absolute dedication for 9 months I wager you could. 3. The cardio workouts are a bit goofy. Plyo is indeed intense and noisy. For apartment dwellers like myself, I rather jump on my elliptical trainer for an hour and watch TV.
  66. This is a fantastic, fun and great workout program. Tony makes it a lot of fun and to me this is his best routine so far. The entire series is well done and it keeps you interested. First I thought I would get bored and give up after a few days, but I realized that I was looking forward to my P90X workout every day. I love the fact that he shows the beginner and the advanced versions during the routines and he doesn’t make you feel bad if you can’t keep up with the group. Pros: - Fun - Easy to follow - Great exercises, even if you are a beginner you will find them easy to do (just do less then the group) - Doesn’t require a visit to the Gym, can be done at home Cons: - The results you see on TV do not come from doing it once, you have to do P90X more often than that - Resistance bands are great, however I highly recommend to use a pull-up bar. Using bands won’t give you the results like real pull-ups/chin-ups will give you. All in all, it is a great product and well worth the money. I never believed in those infomerials, but this one is what it promises (besides those results). As others mentioned, it is not for body building, it is for fitness and for this purpose it is great. I can only recommend it
  67. I just wanted to say that I was worried about the discs not working after reading some of the lower star reviews. I purchased this from Amazon and received the package in a week. Everything was packaged nicely and in perfect condition. I spent a couple of hours previewing the discs and they all work fine. I took the precaution, however, of buying hard cases to put them in to avoid wear from sliding them in and out of the envelopes they came in. I have to say that the workouts look very challenging, but worth the effort. Tony Horton is fun and motivating. I like the look of the set, the lighting and overall feel of the videos. There is a timer at the bottom of the screen which is really helpful. A lot of workouts go by a timer, not by the rep count which I like. The nutrition book is nicely put together and the recipes seem pretty easy. The fitness guide has lots of info that isn’t on the video, so that’s a must read before getting started. I’m waiting for my support equipment to arrive before getting started, but I mainly wanted to let potential buyers know that there were no problems with my discs.
  68. I have been doing P90X for about two weeks now and I really can’t believe how well things are going. The program itself is a little crazy, and a fairly big time commitment. I haven’t been focusing nearly as much on the nutritional component as I have been on the workout itself and it still seems to be working well. Just making sensible meal choices and following hte game plan. Overall I am really impressed. I think whats so great is that the workout and the “muscle confusion” idea really seems to work. Some of routines are amazing while others (read yoga) are horribly boring. But I plan on sticking with it for 90 days and seeing how things turn out!
  69. I started this program with my brother who needed an exercise partner for motivation. The first week, I wanted to quit, because I thought it was way too hard, but after doing some soul searching I decided I would continue. I’m glad I did. I realized I didn’t want an easy exercise routine that would only lead me to plateau, and then leave me bored. This is hard work, but you get awesome results. When I started the program, I couldn’t do a single push up, not even on my knees! Now I can do regular push ups; I counted 180 during the Chest and Back routine. This may not be a lot for the fitness freaks out there, but for me this was HUGE!!! I have only lost nine pounds in the 90 days, but I’ve lost 8 inches off my waist and 7 inches off my hips. I also fit into clothes I never thought I would fit into again. I’m not worried about the scale anymore, because I have so much muscle now, that it would be ridiculous for me to think it didn’t weigh anything. I was worried in the beginning that doing all these weights would make me look bulky or masculine, but that’s not the case at all. I stuck to the lean program and my arms look shapely, but very feminine and my legs are muscular, but not too bulky. As a mother of two girls, I’m proud of myself and of being able to show my daughters that numbers on a scale are not as important as your health and your physical strength. I absolutely love this program and would recommend it to anyone. I’m starting the 90 days all over again, and thanks to the different dvds, I’m not bored and I’m no where near a plateau since I can continue to challenge myself with my own personal goals.
  70. I have zero doubt P90X can get you in great shape, provided you have the time to devote to the program. If you are thinking of starting P90X be prepared to devote 75-90 minutes a day, 6 days a week to it. If you have kids and a job and can stick with this program, more power to you. The other thing I’d like to note is you need to be in good shape before starting. This is a very advanced workout routine. If you’re dead set on trying P90X but not in the greatest shaped, I’d go through one of Tony Horton’s other programs first like Power 90. Overall, I found it to be a mixed bag: A phenomenal workout that I had a hard time finding enough time for, and dreading when I did have the time.
  71. P90X is a great system! There is plenty of variety, they show modifications to the exercises and the pace is good (not too quick, not too slow). I also like the diet program. There is a little product marketing for the protein bars and after-workout drinks but it’s not excessive. Overall, it’s a high quality program with lots of versatility.
  72. I can’t rate the product since it’s a 90 day program and I haven’t started it yet, but I have a friend who has done it with her husband and she claims they are “in the best shape of their lives.” She looks great! She has done it faithfully and used all the products recommended by Beachbody, shakes/bars/etc. I’m preparing to start it in a week or so! I’m moderatly fit and getting up the courage to commit for 90 days! It’s definitely not a program for beginners!
  73. I haven’t even started this program yet and I am already feeling like it was a mistake. Based on reading some of the poor reviews here I just hope the program works because the packaging and quality control sure is poor. I have been copying the DVD’s onto my Apple Mac so I can watch and control the program through my Apple TV. Small remote I can keep in my hand makes it easier to stop or start when I need to. 4 of the Disks refuse to be read by my Apple’s DVD player, 7 worked fine but 4 are DOA. This is appalling, the disks are unmarked. The pathetic disk packaging really makes me wonder who on earth would design this stupid booklet for the DVD’s. For $140 I want good packaging so it lasts and doesn’t get damaged. It is SO easy to scratch a DVD putting it back and taking it out of these silly little slips in this cardboard booklet. I mean come on, give us decent plastic protective coverage for our investment. Also I am just reading the P90X nutrition plan booklet and I tell you no lies I have seen 6 typos or spelling mistakes in the first 2 pages of the book. Absolutely appalling proof reading and quality control. Tony Horton should seriously be ashamed of himself for letting this program be sold like this. I am pretty sure this isn’t a knock off copy. I mean I am buying it from Amazon Market place via what I hope is a legitimate seller. Amazon really cannot afford to let pirated DVD’s be sold on their site although I know it does occur. My seller has very high approval rates for a large number of sales. Anyway. I have 7 of the Disks on my Apple TV and I will start the program but this is not a good start I have to say. And for anyone saying well you are not grading the program, the grading is for the whole experience and it should include packaging, production, presentation and the program in my opinion.
  74. I NEVER buy anything from a television add. I was surprised at myself when I called in and made the purchase. I have worked through the DVDs twice. I would recommend this for everyone. I’m looking for teammates to start again. I lost 30 lbs and decreased 2 inches in my waist. I feel so much better mentally and physically. I have never really been athletic and I can’t believe I made it through the workouts. It takes a lot of commitment and about an 1.25 hours a day except for the typical 4th day of the week which will take about 1.75 hours. If you purchase the program, enjoy and just stick with it! Oh… and by the way… do your Yoga!
  75. I’m so amazed that this program worked as well as it did. I thought “another infomercial” – and I *never* buy infomercial items. But something inside told me to give it a try and I broke down and ordered it off Amazon. I didn’t even want to tell anyone I bought it because I thought “I’m not sure I can do it and I don’t want the embarrassment of failure”. But if I can do it then anyone can. It took a couple of weeks of lighter workouts to “work up” to being able to do these – but maybe that was more my courage working up than my fitness level. And even now that I’ve fully completed all 90 days I still have to “press pause” through many of them to take an extra 30 second break. But I am in the best shape of my life and am VERY excited to be starting the program again for a second round. I’ve lost 35 pounds so far (let’s just say I was vary round before this – and very out of shape). I had a personal trainer years ago. I could only afford that 3 days a week and over a summer I got in pretty good shape. With P90X I’m in better shape, faster. But I am working out pretty much every day now (at least 6 days per week). Pros: * Great variety – can keep using the program after 90 days if you want without being bored * Great production quality * Tony (trainer) has a great personality * Cheaper than a Gym Membership for a year * Easier and less embarrassing than going to the gym * Your “better half” won’t be able to keep their hands off of you * Lower blood pressure, greatly increase fitness level, feel younger * Intense (hard) workouts Cons: * Need 60 – 90 minutes, six days a week * Need to dig deep and “press play” each day. Motivation was hard the first 2 – 3 weeks but then got MUCH easier as you see and feel the results * You can use fitness bands, but you really will want a full set of dumbbells for this (guys especially = $300+) * Need a Heart Rate monitor (Amazon = $30 – $60) * Solid floor to workout on (if you live in the upstairs apartment you may not be loved during the “jump training”) * Intense (hard) workouts Bottom Line: If you can be self-motivated for the first month – FORCE yourself to do it EVERY day – you won’t regret it. You’ll eventually look forward to it and you’ll feel GREAT. And all the compliments you get won’t hurt either.
  76. I was impressed with how quickly my package arrived. It was in mint condition. I have begun the work out routines and I am extremely satisfied. The whole work out package is intense, extreme, and quite manageable!
  77. I tried this for a few days and its way too fast paced… then i tried jillian michaels and it was much easier. I am a little overweight and p90x is very hard. Dont waste your money….find another product btw you also dont have to buy there equipment u can get it at walmart. I personally dont like the YOGA on here I am not bendie. its LONG too about 60 minutes. I would say pass on it if u can. I also want to say i have a shin spint and lower back problems this would not be the DVD for you if you have any problems like that
  78. In preparation for a Biggest Loser Contest we are having at work I wanted to up my fitness level. I stumbled upon p90x and was skeptical form the infomercial videos. After much research I got my hands on this program and showed it to my wife who said she’d do the P90X Lean in order to support me. We’ve both been going at it for two weeks now and really enjoy the variety of workouts. The first week was very difficult, but by week two we both are already feeling stronger. I was nervous with the Fit Test, but when I read in detail the expectations I knew I could do this work out. . .well, barely but do it nonetheless. It’s hard not to get discouraged after two weeks when in the mind’s eye one expects to have week 12 results already. But we are keeping on regardless. 1) I highly recommend you view all videos BEFORE doing the program so you don’t waste your first time through scrambling around for weight, bands, etc. 2) I love how you need very little equipment to get a good workout. The $20 pull up bar at Walmart is fine if you have doors that give you the wide grip. I personally bought the Maximum Fitness chin up bar for $40 because it supports wider doors than the Iron Gym. The SPRI bands on Amazon are awesome! 3) You do NOT need the recovery drink UNTIL you burn off the excess fat. 4) The eating plan is easy to follow! Basically the first month is an very low carb Atkins diet to burn off the stored fat. Then the carbs get a bit better in month 2, then in month 3 you are eating normal meals with a good balance across. I was surprised at how many posts I found where folks did not follow the diet plan. It’s 90 days folks…just follow it. 5) I converted the videos for my iPod and have been able to get some workouts at work in our work gym since there is very little equipment needed. 6) I struggle to keep remembering to do the Ab Ripper X on Mon, Wed, and Fri. Even the calendar doesn’t have it by default, so make a note somewhere for yourself to add this in if doing the Classic program. 7) I LOVE that the fitness guide has every exercise listed out for you and how to do it (including warm-up & cooldown). Last night I was watching TV with the wife and did my workout by simply following the book. . .it did help I’ve done the workout once before so I knew what they meant when reading the book. I could see myself doing this program from Classic to Double to Lean or some combination. After that I may try Insanity workout. OVERALL: - lots of variety - uses body weight for most strength training - even with equipment purchases it’s cheaper than a year’s membership at a gym. . .thus it’s well worth it - portable even if you are traveling (take your bands & fitness guide with you) - getting rid of the junk food in the house without eating it before the program will be the difficult part, but do it! - if you start to get bored, do Jillian’s Last Chance Workout or No More Trouble Zones…those are two challenging workouts just to give a change of scenery
  79. The P90X dvd’s and booklets are ok for the most part. There are spelling mistakes in the booklets though, which makes me think this is not a real version of P90X. One dvd skips and has some minor scratches on it. We can use the dvd, but it is obviously not new. Billed as a new product…I’m not sure the seller is on the up & up. Delivery was fine though, cannot make any unkind comments in that area.
  80. me & my girlfriend were both looking for something that would be a really good work out that would kick our butt & show results. My girlfriend has always wanted the p90x so I decided to finally get it for her for christmas. After the first 2 weeks I could already see improvements in both of us. I’m still in the middle of doing it & continue to see changes for the better. All of the DVD’s really work you, but in a good way. And host Tony Horton does a great job! I would recommend this DVD set to anybody looking for an amazing work out with almost instant results.
  81. These series of dvds are worth the talk. I have been doing this for almost 30 days now and I can see the results. It was tough at first but I listen and took my time getting up to speed on these workouts and its worth getting.
  82. Like everyone else, I watched the infomercial over and over again. After two of my customers bought it and looked good I finally bit. The conclusion? It’s a work in progress, I’m 33 yrs old in week 3 of training and feel awesome. Muscles are starting to define a little and the weight has come off quickly, (not easily!) I’ve lost a little over 4%. I also have to admit, the workouts aren’t cheesy like my wife’s videos she uses. Great program so far, I’m glad I bought it……
  83. It’s definitely not easy, but if you’re dedictated then it can be really fun. You learn to have a love/hate relationship with Tony. I love it! I started seeing results in 2 weeks.
  84. This is one of the most effective exercise routines I’ve ever tried. It is extremely challenging but they offer alternatives to help users build up to their maximum fitness level. There are three different approaches to the 90 day cycle, with suggestions for maintaining your fitness level upon completion of the program. Some equipment is needed, including a pull-up/chin-up bar, free weights and/or exercise bands and a floor mat. There is an accompanying nutrition plan that creates some great eating habits to help maximize the exercise program.
  85. I would not recommend this to anyone who starts something and quits halfway through. This is for people who want to get in shape and learn how to eat right.
  86. If (and this is a big if) you give all you have to p90x you will see amazing results. You must stop eating junk food, fast food, and all that other garbage that just bogs your body down, and start treating yourself right. I am not saying you can never have a potato chip again, but you at least shouldn’t have any for 90 days. Use this time to learn proper portions, get used to a exercise regimen, and realize how great you could feel if you just put the time into exercising and eating right. On monday (today is 2/19/10) I will be starting phase two (aka my second 30 days). I have already lost 20 pounds (that 20 pounds by a scale, and I know I have gained a decent bit of muscle so my fat loss is probably a bit higher). I am 22 years old, 6 foot 1 in tall, and was 260lbs. I was not able to do the fit test that beachbody suggested you be able to do before attempting this program. But I just ignored that advice and did it anyway. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do exactly what they did or maybe just not as many, but as Tony Horton says all the time in these videos “Do your best and forget the rest”. I would recommend this amazing program to everyone I know (and everyone I don’t if they give me the chance to). One last thing. If you are one of those people (like I was) who says that they just don’t have time to exercise, then stop kidding yourself. You will never ever have time to exercise if you wait for free time to “show up”. You have to make time. You have to decide that you aren’t going to watch that hour of TV or you are going to wake up an hour earlier. If your thinking “well that’s easy for you to say. Your only 22 and you have the time.” Not so. I am a graduate student who teaches 4 classes, wakes up at 5:30am, is at school by 7:00 (have to battle traffic), and gets home anywhere between 6-9. If I can find time to do all of that, study, and grade tests then anyone can find at least 1 hour to change their life. I encourage you to give yourself 3 months. Believe in yourself, and watch your body change right before your eyes.
  87. Wow! I am usually very skeptical of home workouts and never really get into them, but kept hearing so much about P90X that I decided to give it a shot. I love this program since it gives you the step-by-step procedure for really getting yourself going. Lots of different options keep it fresh, so you won’t get bored. Everything is covered, so just go down the list, do what they say, and you’ll get the results. Doesn’t get any more simple than this!
  88. As Tony Horton says in the intro to Ab Ripper X, I can say when talking about the entire P90X program, “I hate it, but I love it!” Buying P90X is the easiest thing you’ll do associated with this product. The rest is hard work and discipline. Don’t purchase it unless you are committed to following through and are willing to keep pushing play. In the beginning, your body will take a pounding, but after the first 3 weeks, the recovery week will help you get back to it stronger than ever. If you stick with it you will see results. Don’t expect to get ripped like the people they show in their ads, because those results are not typical. But, do expect to dramatically change your body – not only how you look, but your balance, coordination, stamina, and if you participate in other physically activities, your performance in those other things you do. The diet is just as important as the training portion of the program. The closer you adhere to the diet, or some other sensible eating plan, the more pronounced your results will be. I am very glad I decided to do P90X. I am in the best shape of my life and the program is adaptable so you can use it in a modified form for the rest of your life.
  89. Killer workout! I gave up after a few days…but am getting ready to start back up. I am cancelling ALL 3 of my gym memberships!
  90. The workout videos are tough and geared specifically for those who are already fit but wants to achieve fitness to the next level. I would recommend this to someone who has lost 20 lbs. and wants to gain more muscle tone. I am already working out 5 days a week at a gym doing cardio classes like kickboxing and weight training class. I do long runs once a week outdoors. This workout is a great tool to break that plateau.
  91. Fast Shipping! Product in excellent condition! Thank you so much! I am thrilled with this transaction and I highly recommend this seller!
  92. I really love the videos. I am a professional figure skater that needed something to take with me while on tour. This was it. I think it is super important that you do the fitness test and can pass before starting. If you can’t pass the fitness test then you should seriously consider Power 90 instead.
  93. I usually do not stick with workout videos. However, I have stuck with these for a period of time. At first I was a little intimidated because it looks like a male product, but I love it. And they give results! I haven’t delved into the nutrition side of the program, but overall that looks healthy and balanced as well. I would definitely recommend this product.
  94. I’m in my late 40s and thought I was in good shape… fast walk five miles, ride the elliptical and rower, lift weights, hike, etc. My husband and I ordered the P90X to add variety to our workouts and that it did! And, I discovered, I need to get in better shape. The workouts are intense and are excellent at the same time. Tony does a great job of guiding you through it, offering advice and referencing the different participants in the video. My advice is to recognize that you need to ease into these workouts and build up, especially for some that may be more challenging. Well worth the money.
  95. My wife and I are in our late 50’s and in so-so shape. We started on P90X about 3 weeks ago and can tell a difference already. To be honest, there are some exercises on the DVD’s we just can’t do, but we’re trying to do our own modified version of them to keep the flow of the workout going. We did not purchase this product with the intention of “getting ripped” but we really can see some definition in the short amount of time we’ve used it. What we read on a couple of other reviews was exactly right: you get out of it what you put into it. That’s true of any fitness program. This is a great presentation overall with easy to understand instruction on the different exercises and great nutritional info included as well.
  96. If you are looking for a fitness program that works, look no further. This program works! It’s something that you can adapt to your everyday workout schedule even after the 90 days are over! You will always be looking to push yourself to the next level! P90X is so easy to use at home for the fact that there isn’t a whole lot of eqipment needed. There isn’t a whole lot of space that you need. The DVD’s are so each to follow because of the way Tony guides you through each movement. After being a P90xer for only a week I have already seen some results! I love this program and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get in great shape and improve their health!!
  97. I bought this product and the first thing I noticed when I opened it, was that it was used. Its a bad feeling when you buy something and pay full price for a used product. The whole experience of using the product is now tainted. I wouldn’t recommend buying this product from this seller. Paying full price for something used is very bad.
  98. We received everything in a timly manner, and all DVD’s and booklet info were in excellant condition. There was only 1 DVD that had minor scratches, but nothing to stop it from playing. Great condition, would buy from again.
  99. This is a home fitness program that works. It offers enough diversity in the workout routines to minimize boredom, options to modify the workouts to increase or decrease intensity, and options to turn off all but the workout cues. You’ll need to commit 1-1.5 hours per day, a workout mat, resistance bands or dumb bells and a space that is at least 6 feet by 12 feet. I was not an ideal candidate for the program. I was overweight and underfit. I am nearly 50 years old with both shoulder and knee issues. It took me about 160 days to complete the 90-day program. I still choose to skip or modify some of the exercises in the program. I did not use the resources available from the manufacturer’s web site and I did not write down the details of the workout to track my progress over time. I started without use of weights (using bands) and migrated to weights as I became stronger. I did not use the weight-loss portion of the program as I was already enrolled in Weight Watchers and comfortable with that program. After completing the program, I am within a few pounds of my ideal weight and I have muscle definition that I haven’t had in decades. I am stronger, more flexible and have better balance.
  100. I am on day 23 AND FEEL GREAT! This is the program for anyone looking to feel strong and athletic again. Remember to be ready to start. You will need space in front of your tv, a pull-up bar and a set of dumbells. I am very impressed by this program.
  101. It’s a great workout, there’s lots of variety and help to make sure you are working at your level and it pushes you. There are also workout sheets to help track results.
  102. I brought it from a dealer on amazon and I did’nt get the nutrition guide or exercise planner. I just got the dvds and the package was really beat up. If I had seen a picture of what I was getting before hand I would not have brought it for $80.
