  1. The neti pot is very nice, but it came sealed in hard plastic, which was excessive, and doesn’t quite fit the environmental image of the company.
  2. I suffer from severe pollen allergies Jan-June, which I used to keep under control with antihistaminics. This year though, the situation in mid Jan was already seriously unbearable: my nostrils were completely clogged, swollen and I could not breathe for days. And the mucus all over the place would make me cough all the time too. This despite antihistaminic medications taken regularly, cortisone nasal sprays and any other type of drug I had tried. I bought my neti pot out of desperation while waiting in line at Rite Aid, because I was ready to try anything to get some relief. I wish my doctor had told me about this before! This is fantastic, I felt better from the start, even though the effectiveness was super after about a week of regular irrigations 2-3 times a day, isotonic and hypertonic. Now I can breathe!! This is a very healthy and safe procedure: it’s as safe as swimming into the ocean and getting some salted water in your sinuses, and the feeling in your nose is the same. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from allergies, it’s the best treatment I tried so far.
  3. If you are looking for a Neti pot that suit for you, ceramic ones are better than plastic ones in my opinion. Anyway there is not much choice we can made, this one and Ancient Secrets Ceramic Nasal Cleansing Pot.This one is quite good in design, more beautiful than Ancient Secrets. However, this one is thinner and smaller compared to Ancient Secrets. Its low profile makes water spit out the spout when you carry from one place to another (In many case that you want warm water from kitchen to bathroom). Anyway, Ancient Screts one doesn’t have this problem. I recommend to buy Ancient Secret instead of this.
  4. I purchased 2 of these – one for my mother, who has been suffering from allergies since Oct.2008,and one for myself because I have been an allergy sufferer all my life. I purchased these on the recommendation of my sister, who also suffers from allergies. Obviously,it runs in the family. This product helps my sister, my mother, and myself in varying degrees. If you suffer from allergies and other types of sinus, rhinositis, etc.,than what do you have to lose? Try it.
  5. I’ve been using this Neti pot off and on for a little over a year now. I’ve used it mainly when I was having sinus/nasal symptoms that I wanted to clear up, but this Spring I’ve committed to using it regularly to prevent any problems. I pulled it back out of the closet a few days ago when I got my first Spring sinus headache and it totally wiped it out! I’m a believer! I’ve actually gotten rid of a nasty sinus infection without antibiotics with it in the past. Gotta love that, since I hate taking meds and the antibiotics cause other problems. This neti pot, in particular, is great. It’s super lightweight, but durable. I’ve taken it with me on travel several times. I use it as soon as I can after the plane trip, and so far have avoided getting sick. I used to get sick nearly every time I flew! As other posters have mentioned, you don’t need to spend the money for special salt. I use non-iodized Kosher salt and it works great. Be sure to use filtered water though, since there is no sense in sending any potential contaminants or minerals through your sinuses. If you’ve been trying to decide if you can “stomach” using a Neti pot, just take the leap! The first time is interesting, but you’ll soon get the hang of it. Tilt your head forward, rotate it to one side and remember to breathe through your mouth – no problems at all.
  6. This is a good Neti-pot, but I do like the fact that it is unbreakable. This is good when you have small children that would like to try it too.
  7. I have purchased three Neti pots: both of the ones here–the Himalayan Institute ceramic and plastic–and the Ancient Secrets ceramic pot. I gave away this ceramic one, but kept the plastic one for travel. The Ancient Secrets is my preferred pot. If they ever make a plastic one, I will get it also and get rid of my Himalayan Institute plastic one! Why I don’t like this specific pot: - it does not form a good “seal” around my nostril - water does not flow smoothly through my sinuses - water is always coming out of the top and dripping down the outside of the pot and therefore down my face The Ancient Secrets pot has none of these problems! It seals well, flows smoothly, and does not come out of the top. Definitely get it instead. I might have rated this pot higher, perhaps even a two or three, had I not used the Ancient Secrets one and found it to be so much better! The price on both seems too high, but I have yet to see a reasonably priced Neti pot! Last but not least, there is no need to buy any special salts. Plain table salt works fine (get the NON-IODIZED variety) as does Kosher salt (it should be non-iodized but has a larger grain so you need to use about twice as much). Think about it: you are most likely going to be using tap water rather than heating up filtered water, so do you really need some overpriced “pure”, “medical grade” salt? Save your money!!!
  8. So I’ve always had nasal breathing problems and pretty much anytime I bring it up with a doctor, I’m always given some kind of nasal steroid and sent on my way. I happened across the concept of the neti pot by accident over the internet and was very hesitent but still decided it was worth a try. When it came in the mail, I was excited but at the same time the idea of pouring water through my nose was strange and kinda gross for me but I worked up the courage to give it a shot. Thank god I did. It’s amazing how much this has helped me out. I have been sleeping better and in general my ability to breath through my nose has improved dramatically. I just use it once a night before bed and that seems to be enough. I found out though that if you have a fully blocked nose (or just one nostril in my case) that has resulted from something like a cold, I would avoid using it. The water seemed to be redirected to my ear and I had water in the ear for a day or so. Pretty annoying. Not much else to say about it. The fact that its plastic is great because I’m sure I’ll drop it once and smash it. All in all, if you’ve had nasal breathing problems for quite some time, give it a go. I don’t know if it’ll work for you the same as me but hey, its worth a try.
  9. I always had bad allergies. I still do. But the neti pot helps sooooo much!! Before, summer, fall, and spring were horrors. at first my nose was soo stuffy nothing could even get through! But then it lessened so that it worked! however, it doesn’t stay like that for long. thats why i gave it 4 stars. i hope i can contradict that in the future.
  10. I have to say, I was coming down with a crazy cold, and used this thing according to the insturctions and lemme tell ya, that cold never came about into anything, it miraculously went away!! So. It’s not this “wonderful amazing” quality made thing, but it’s plastic, and it’s durable and it works well. I would definately buy it, but it’s the only one I’ve ever seen, and I can’t help but wonder how it compares to others, and that’s why I only give it four stars.
  11. Who knew that the Neti Pot could be so useful?? Each day I rub that little lamp, and magically a genie appears. You ask, what can the Neti Pot do for me? - I no longer pray each night for God to help me pay the bills each month…I whip out my Neti Pot and **poof** my bills are paid - I no longer wish for good looks because when I carry this magical pot, **poof** men wearing wolf T-shirts howl me I recommend this Neti Pot to anyone who is looking for clairvoyance in their life.
  12. I ordered the Ceramic pot and instead received a very cheap plastic version. When I called their customer support, they acknowledged the mistake and said that I could return the ones received and they would send the correct ones. At this point it had already been a week later since they were ordered and I was not gonna wait a week to receive the Return envelope, wait a week for them to receive it, and another week for them to send the correct Item. So I told the guy that I would keep the cheap ones and I demanded some sort satisfaction. Also, keep in mind, after these were on Oprah’s show the price went up 3 dollars and the guy kept insisting that I would have to pay the difference since the price went up. Long story short, he said he would send me some gifts for my trouble…3 weeks later, I still have yet to receive anything. I’m Still waiting…Overall, SAVE your money, blow your nose! Because you really do not need this product.
  13. I had been very skeptical of using a neti pot, in part because I was concerned about the process being complicated or uncomfortable. After I tried it for the first time, I was hooked. It is very simple, and the pot comes with step by step instructions and pictures. Using the pot feels like getting water up your nose at the beach – not bad at all! Afterwards, I breathed clearly through my nose, and my ears were relieved of considerable pressure. My whole face was relieved of sinus pressure and discomfort.
  14. I love this product. Dr Oz is right on the money with this. My alergies are so much better this fall than in prior years. I recommend a Kosher salt solution over any packaged solutions.
  15. I can’t say enough great things about this product and process! I bought the Himalayan Institute ceramic neti pot, Neti Wash Plus, and neti pot salt six months ago, and I HAVEN’T TAKEN AN ALLERGY MED SINCE! This neti pot is of excellent quality and is comfortable to hold and work with. I chose this one because of the natural material construction and seamless interior. I read that the stainless steel models can start to rust at their seams, and one of my goals is to buy as little plastic as possible. The size of this neti pot also helps me know that I’m using equal parts through each nostril. If you’re a first-timer, I recommend watching several online sources of how-to videos to help visualize the process and avoid the traumatic first use others have described. You’ll want to learn how to avoid getting water in your sinus passages or Eustachian tubes. And read all the instructional information provided on the [...] site. I had a very pleasant first experience. The temperature and salinity of the water were such that I didn’t really feel it, and the benefits afterward were purely amazing. How it improved my life: For years, I had been suffering from allergies and sinus drainage (and the resulting bad breath). I took a Claritin-D daily (year-round!) just to breathe semi-normally, sometimes trading that for a Benadryl or two. I was almost constantly dabbing very watery nasal drainage, yet had thicker drainage in my throat that caused 30-minute bouts of throat clearing after every single meal I ate (drove myself and others nuts). I could barely smell things that others easily could. I used my neti pot daily for the first week, and now I use it just 1-3 times a week, as needed. I put 2 cups of purified water in my microwave for 55 seconds, and it’s the perfect temp by the time I mix in the salt and Neti Wash Plus. After doing one neti pot full through each nostril, I usually have a bit of saline left. Because I have the throat drainage tendency, I use the remainder to do a little Stage 2 cleansing. Now, I use fewer tissues, and my throat-clearing problem is gone. I can effortlessly smell a glass of wine or coffee sitting on the table a few feet away and the scents of things around me I could never smell before. I’m virtually free of any allergy symptoms. Equally wonderful is that my body is blissfully free of allergy meds with a most simple, inexpensive, and natural solution.
  16. Just got my Netti Pot and I am very happy with it. It is a cute ceramic pot you dont mind leaving out on the counter. I had never netti potted before but this one seems to work great
  17. Once you get the hang of using a Neti pot, it is a great way to keep moisture in and bacteria out during the winter months, and avoid allergy symptoms year round.
  18. Every household SHOULD have this neti pot. It’s a bit overpriced but you’re happy you’re contributing to the Himalayan Institute’s compassionate causes in Africa and India. The brochure says (1) you should use pure salt, (2) you should stir it into 8 oz of warm water, and (3) you may want to do three exercises to expel any water remaining in your nose. Well, (1) I use sea salt bought at Whole Foods; (2) the pot only holds 4 oz and you should use lukewarm water, not warm water; (3) the three exercises are unnecessary. I can’t help but rub it sometimes because it reminds me of Aladdin’s Magic Lamp…I may get three wishes…who knows?
  19. This is the first time I have used a Neti Pot. The Himalayan Institute Neti Pot is very well made and easy to use. Definitely worth the price.
  20. Dr. Oz show once again recommended a neti pot for sinus issues and to combat viruses and sinus problems. With recent H1N1 issues this is a great idea. Weekly cleansings are keeping my sinus in control. It does not cure sinus problems, but certainly has eliminated many problems as I had in the past. I am a believer now for the cleansings for sinus relief due to allegeries/weather related issues.
  21. This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with stuffy nose, and allergies, and since I bought my neti pot it’s helped so much with clearing me out and making me feel GREAT!
  22. I was constipated one morning and needed to have a quick B.M. before going to work and the only thing I had to use was my girlfriend’s Netti Pot. After filling it with warm water I inserted it but when I tipped it the water wouldn’t flow into my orifice and spilled out on the floor.
  23. It doesn’t sound like a lot of fun to let saline solution run in one nostril and out the other, but it wasn’t unpleasant at all. And very effective in opening nasal passages. The Neti Pot arrived promtly, well-packed. It is a perfectly smooth ceramic piece that is easy to wash after use.
  24. I got the Neti Pot for my boyfriend after reading all the reviews of people with killer allergies that were relieved by this pot. Well, it didn’t really work for him, I guess because he’s just SO congested; the water sloshed around and apparently went down the back of his throat instead of out his other nostril. Additionally, he tilted his head the wrong way at one point, and he had the very painful sensation of his “brain filling up with water.” Even when he did finally get it to flow the corect way through both nostrils, he only felt relief for a few minutes before clogging back up again. Maybe if he tries it again when his allergies are a little better, it will work better. It’s just too bad it couldn’t relieve some of his congestion right away. For ME, though, the Neti Pot worked great! I was totally fascinated by the whole thing, so I had to try it. The sensation I had was that of being underwater–but it was totally disorienting because I could still breathe through my mouth. Once I got over that feeling, it cleared out my sinuses really well; I hadn’t realized I was at all congested, but I was amazed at how much easier it was to breathe afterwards. It also seemed to moisturize the inside of my nose, which was pretty dry due to the winter air and weather. So, it’s a 5-star product for me, but a 1-star product for its intended recipient… that averages out to 3 stars.
  25. The ceramic material is much more comfortable and attractive to me than plastic options and I have especially enjoyed my daily wash since purchasing this product.
  26. Use this once or twice a day and say goodbye to sinus congestion. I make my own solution with 1 1/4 cup of warm well water and 1/4 tsp of plain salt for each application.
  27. I suffer from severe allergies and asthma. I take many prescription medications and OTC and it was just too much! A friend recommended trying the Neti and I started researching how to use it and how effective it could be on my allergies. I was convinced, so I purchased this Neti pot on Amazon to give it a try. I wanted the glass because it is easier to clean and will last a long time. So I mixed up some saline and tried it. At first it was very uncomfortable, but as I got the hang of it, I couldn’t believe how much better I felt, immediately! Instead of decongestant tablets and nasal sprays, I now just use the Neti. It takes just minutes and works for hours! I also have noticed I don’t get frequent sinus infections like I have in the past. No more massive doses of antibiotics! I’ve saved a lot of money by not having to purchase medication and treating my sinus problems holistically. Highly recommended.
  28. I bought this as a remedy for my occasional allergy attacks. I’ve tried taking several different medications that would all help tone down my allergies but never fully restore me to a pre-allergy symptom state. The only solution that I had found that worked was to just go to sleep until everything stopped (usually the next day), which is not very practical at all. The Neti Pot, however, cleared all the allergens out and I no longer have to resort to calling it a day.
  29. like others say, it feels “funky” the first time, but you get used to it right away. I use it at least once a week and it really helps.
  30. I first purchased a neti pot from Walgreens. Never did like it so I bought the NeilMed squirt bottle and like it better but the Himalayan pot just feels right. It is balanced and easy to use.
  31. A miracle device! I must admit, I ended up using the Neti Pot out of sheer desperation – not out of recommendation. It seems that when I get a cold I always have the worst sinus problems, total blockage and a terribly runny nose. Sinus problems are definitely the most annoying symptoms with a cold, for me anyways. For me, when I get a cold usually it goes like this - First I’ll try steam, vapor-rub, and pretty much every non-medicine based approach. I don’t like using cold medicine because often-times it doesn’t work at all, in the best case my sinuses will clear slightly and I’ll have a terrible runny nose. But usually it doesn’t work and I’m stuck with that ‘medicine-head’ feeling the next day. So, meds don’t work. I don’t like using sprays because they only work briefly and my mom actually lost her sense of smell by using a nasal spray, so that scared me away. In the end I just fight a losing battle until I eventually get over the cold. Recently a terrible cold started going around at my office. I work in a small office of a dozen people so it hit everybody – hard. I started going through the same rituals of steam, vapors, etc (they do seem to work slightly, though it’s often short-lived). After doing a little research I ran across this device. The whole thing sounded odd, but it did make sense so out of desperation I decided to give it a try. Let me say, I’m never going back to my old rituals! This thing really is magic. I can’t believe how well the neti pot works! It’s so simple, so basic, but it works so well! When I flush my sinuses with the neti pot I get instant relief and long lasting relief at that! Before I would beg for just 5 minutes of relief and now I can go at least a couple hours (and that’s when my cold is at its worst). Unlike medicine my nose dries up enough to where it doesn’t run at all! (But not too dry) It’s almost too good to be true, instant, long-lasting relief and no runny nose? No way! Also, I swear my cold is going away much faster then usual. I’m writing this on my break and as I write this review I’m hearing people sniffle and talk funny and they’ve had this cold for a couple weeks now. I just got this cold a few days ago and I’m feeling much better all-around. I’m not sure if this is helping me get over the cold faster then usual, but it sure seems that way. I do have a few tips for you though if you decide to go this route - First, if your nose is 100% blocked (or a nostril is) then the neti pot might not work so well – you should have at least a little bit of air-movement through your nostrils. If you’re totally blocked then try to clear your nose temporarily, even slightly, so you can use this device. Try taking a hot shower, using a vapor-rub, or even try doing as many push-ups as you can (this really does work). Try clearing out the most blocked nostril first. I have read reviews where people experience ear pain when using a neti pot. I think what happens is that people have a really plugged nostril and they start by trying to clear the lesser-plugged nostril and the unclear nostril is so clogged that the solution takes another route – to the ear, which causes ear pain. If you start with the most plugged nostril then if the solution doesn’t clear it, at least the solution is blocked right away and not taking another route in your head! Don’t tilt your head too much. Once you have the solution flowing through your sinuses and the neti pot starts to empty a bit, just tilt the neti pot more, not your head. When I used this for the first time I tilted my head too far and I could feel the solution go deep in my ears and it caused a little bit of ear pain. I immediately stopped so the pain wasn’t too bad, but you can avoid it by not tilting too much. This all may sound complicated but it’s not, just watch a couple YouTube videos and you’ll see how to do it correctly. The neti pot isn’t just great for colds and allergies – it’s safe to use every day! Go ahead and use it so your sinuses are always nice and clean. In the end I can’t recommend this enough. It’s the only thing that works well for me when I have a cold. When I’m over this cold completely I still plan on using this pot at least a few times a week, just to keep things clear. This device may sound weird (my wife thinks I’m nuts!) but it really does work. Try it!
  32. I decided to buy a neti pot after sinus issues were starting to keep me up at night, and ultimately decided on this one. Pros: it is quite pretty, I like the fact that it is ceramic and can be cleaned more easily than plastic, and although it took a while to get the hang of, it has helped with congestion. Cons: the spout is uncomfortably large. It is too thick to actually fit into my nostril, and the bulky, rounded edge doesn’t create a very good seal. Additionally, the small, squat shape of the pot makes it difficult to fill to the top without slopping water everywhere (especially if you mix the salt in the pot, rather than a separate container), and even more difficult to pour water through the sinuses without accidentally tipping too far and spilling water from the top of the pot. Some days, I feel like more water ends up spilled on my bathroom counter than in my nose. I will continue to use it for now because of the benefit to my sinuses, but I plan on eventually replacing it with a more user-friendly model.
